I Wonder What Goes On In There...

I Wonder What Goes On In There... a project to enjoy drawing and storytelling by little children.
Eliza-Jane Gilchrist built cardboard sculptures based on the built and natural environment and took them into four Castlemaine kindergartens. The children were asked ‘What goes on in there?’ They were invited to invent what goes on in these buildings and tell stories and draw pictures of the activities as though we are looking through the windows. Their stories were recorded and played in a loop coming from each 'building', so that the children's voices filled the gallery.
The project was commissioned as part of Castlemaine State Festival's Education Programme 2019 and exhibited in Castlemaine Art Museum March to Sept 2019.

Collaboration with children from Carinya Castlemaine Childcare Co-op, South Castlemaine Kindergarten, Johnston Street Early Learning Centre and Ray Street Childcare Centre.
